What can PCA service do for me?
Personal Care Assistance (PCA) provides support for thousands of Alaskan seniors and individuals with disabilities. PCA Services provide support related to an individual’s activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and eating. It can also assist with instrumental activities of daily living like shopping, laundry and light housework.
Who Regulates and Supervises PCA Programs?
PCA Services are provided statewide in Alaska through private agencies like Absolute Care of Alaska and is overseen by the Senior and Disabilities Services (SDS), Department of Health and Social Services of the State of Alaska.
Who will pay for my PCA service?
If approved, Medicaid will cover the cost of personal care service in your home. (Currently Absolute Care of Alaska only bills Medicaid for rendered PCA service)
To be eligible to receive services under the State of Alaska program, you must:
· Be eligible to receive Medicaid
· Require assistance with activities of daily living
· Senior and Disabilities PCA/Waiver Program Medical Certification form completed by Physician, Physician Assistant or an Advanced Nurse Practitioner
